Public Prosecution's Formation

The Public Prosecution comprises one central and eight district prosecutor offices, as follows:

First: The Central Prosecutor's  Office:

It is responsible for the final disposition of crimes by either  referral to the supreme court or by ordering that they are unjustifiable for criminal prosecution and by challenging through appeal and cassation of verdicts passed by the Supreme Court or by the Supreme Court of Appeal, as well as overseeing the business of the district offices.

Second: The District Prosecutor's Offices:

1. Capital Governorate:
It is responsible for investigation in and disposition of cases referred from both the Manama and Mina Salman District Security Directorates.
2. Muharraq Governorate Prosecutor's Office:
It is responsible for investigation in and disposition of cases referred from the Muharraq District Security Directorate, police stations and the Coast Guard.
3. Central Governorate Prosecutor's Office:
It is responsible for investigation in and disposition of cases referred from both the Central District Security Directorate.
4. Southern Governorate Prosecutor's Office:
It is responsible for investigation in and disposition of cases referred from the Southern District Security Directorate.
5. Northern Governorate Prosecutor's Office:
It is responsible for investigation in and disposition of cases referred from the Northern District Security Directorates of the Northwest and Hamad Town.
6. The Juvenile Prosecutor's Office:
It is responsible for handling cases of juveniles under the age of 15 years. The law has specifically provided for certain precautionary measures and procedures aiming at rectifying and correcting the behavior of juveniles and providing them with special courts that will ensure separation from other older defendants. To attain this objective, a special prosecution office has been established.
7. Traffic Prosecutor's Office:
It is responsible for investigation in and disposition of cases related to Traffic Law violations and to manslaughter and accidental injuries.
8. Prosecutor's Office of Ministries and Public Bodies:

It is responsible for investigation in and disposition of cases and reports of ministries and public bodies within the Kingdom, which are committed in violation of the rules and regulations relevant to the functions of such ministries and other governmental authorities, such as the Labour Law, the Immigration and Passport Law and the Municipalities Law.
